Silent install of Office 2013 skips Lync the first time

$

Hello,

I'm trying to get a silent deployment of Office 2013 SP1 working. I've created an msp file, an XML file, and everything seems to be working just fine except that Lync isn't installed.

If I just rerun the setup.exe again from the same deployment folder with the msp and xml present, the installation fixes the issue and installs Lync.

I always have to run the exe twice, and obviously this won't work when running the installation via the self-service portal (the users doesn't have physical access to the actual exe file)

Thanks in advance!

Office Telemetry False Positives

Hello,

We have implemented Office 2013 telemetry in our domain which is still primarily populated with Office 2010 users. However, we have deployed Lync 2013 to several thousand of those Office 2010 users. It appears that Office telemetry is identifying them as Office 2013 users. So, in the telemetry dashboard, it appears as though there are the same number of Office 2013 users as there are 2010 users, which is definitely not the case. From what I can tell, Lync 2013 stand-alone client also installs telemetry? Besides filtering our group policy that enables telemetry on client machine, is there any way to remove telemetry from a Lync 2013-only installation so that our numbers are more accurate? Thanks for your time.

Unable to deploy Office 365 to systems

Problem we are having is deploying Office 365 to systems from a network share. Majority of our users do not have admin rights on these systems. I have tested the deployment on a single machine by going to the share and running the deploy.bat and this works with no problem.

I have a script that maps a drive using the %servername% variable to connect to the share where the distribution files are located on a file server at each location and will connect to the server specified on each system. In some of the tests I have seen setup will start and will just never go any further. The account I am using to deploy this with is a Domain Admin and has full control to the share, I also saw another posting that Domain Computers will need List, read and execute permisions as well I have added this as well.

This is a copy of the configuration file

<Configuration>
 <<Add SourcePath="\\%servername%\office365\office" OfficeClientEdition="32">
 <Product ID="O365ProPlusRetail">
 <Language ID="en-us" />
 </Product>
 </Add>
 <Updates Enabled="TRUE" UpdatePath="" />
 <Display Level="None" AcceptEULA="TRUE" />
 <Logging Name="OfficeSetup.txt" Path="%temp%" />
 </Configuration>

Also I am using Tivoli Endpoint Manager for this deployment

This is my script that runs onthe users system

// Map drive I:
createfile until END_CREATE
@echo off
net use i: "\\%servername%\office365"
END_CREATE
delete __Download\mapdrive.bat
move __createfile __Download\mapdrive.bat
waithidden __Download\mapdrive.bat

//Install
createfile until END_CREATE
@echo off
I:\deploy.bat
END_CREATE
delete __Download\office365.bat
move __createfile __Download\office365.bat
waithidden __Download\office365.bat

Customize Office 365 ProPlus Installation

Hello,

I have Office 365 E3 licenses.

I would like to customize the Office 365 ProPlus so it does the following:

  1. Uninstalls the existing Office 2007 Standard and Lync 2010.
  2. Installs Office 365 ProPlus, but excludes Access.
  3. Does this silently / without user interaction.

How can I accomplish this?

Thank you

OneDrive broken again after Office October 2014 Cumulative Update - Office Upload Center asks for cache repair every reboot

Dear Microsoft,

it is said that "Errare humanum est, perseverare autem diabolicum". Regarding myself, I -doh!- persisted in the habit of allowing Microsoft Update to install the recent CU. Regarding Microsoft, again, again, after problems in July (http://community.office365.com/en-us/f/156/p/254376/790491.aspx#790491), September (https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/office/en-US/0cfb6496-a537-41cc-a297-6eda532ef2dd/skydrive-for-business-and-office-upload-center-broken-after-september-2014-office-update-yesterday?forum=officesetupdeploy), now problems after the last cumulative update!

After updates, at every reboot or startup, after one or two minutes, Office Upload Center says that Office Upload Center found a problem while accessing the document cache, says that cache must be repaired. After repairing, all seems ok, OneDrive seems to work but if I add a new file, the file remains in "stale state", ie, it keeps updating and the file is no more accessible, as shown in images placed underneath.

Already tried to solve the problem as suggested in other posts as in http://community.office365.com/en-us/f/148/t/178459.aspx.

Starting to be VERY annoyed: I'll open also a O365 support ticket.

GPO "Disable shared mail folder caching" in Outlook 2013 not working

Hello,

We do not wish to cache shared mailboxes on our local Outlook client. This is done by altering the default cache by unchecking the setting "Download shared folders" in your e-mail account->More Settings...->Advanced. This works fine doing this on each client.

When configuring this through GPO I should select: User Configuration->Policies->Administrative Templates->Microsoft Outlook 2013->Outlook Options->Delegates->"Disable shared mail folder caching".

Why does this not look like it has any effect on my clients then? The "Download shared folders" should be unchecked right?

I created an account to download a free trial of Microsoft office 2011, and I cant activate it on my computer, I have a mac. I've tried almost everything, every email and password combo possible, but it just keeps saying that the account doesn't exist. I have already been charged money on my bank account in Microsofts name, and I can't afford any more, considering I'm a college student. I just wanted a free trial, but now I'm stuck being charged for something I can't even use. Please Help! Thank you.

Move Office 2013 License to Other MS Live ID

I found an old thread about this, but I'm wondering if anything has changed since then (http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/46e91db4-c640-47d5-bfae-17ceca88b359/need-to-move-office-2013-pro-license-to-different-live-id?forum=officesetupdeploy)

We purchased several Access 2013 Retail copies for a client (they didn't want volume licensing for various reasons; whole other story). When we installed these on their machines individually, we linked them to our MS Live ID 'cause we're just getting on the Office 2013 bandwagon and it's confusing and different than 2010. We now realize we'd like them to be linked to our client's MS Live ID, but I can't find any way to transfer the keys over. I've tried to de-activate the keys with the ospp.vbs /unpkey:xxxxx command and reactive with the new Live ID, but it says it can't because it's already activated blah blah blah. I've tried to sign in to My Account on the Office.com page and activate the keys there, but after putting in the keys, they don't show up. I'm able to reactivate fine with our own Live ID afterwards, but it seems they just can't be linked to another account. Anyone have any ideas? Otherwise it's lots of time on the phone with MS I guess....

Why can't I open .csv files in Excel 2013?

We purchased (20) new machines all with Office 2013 (OEM) version.  We can no longer open .csv files with Excel 2013.  When we go to a machine with Office 2010 it opens perfectly.  The issue is with some change to Excel.  I see a lot of complaints on the internet about this issue.  Since we have OEM versions of Office, I am not entitled to a downgrade to 2010.  I need to know what Microsoft is doing to fix this issue, or need them to grant us rights to downgrade.

Need to Move Office 2013 Pro License to Different Live ID

First off, I want to say I am NOT trying to move Office 2013 Pro from one computer to another, or one owner to another.

I just want to move my customer's Office 2013 Pro license from one Live ID to another, so they can all be grouped together for the company.  Sound simple?  I've looked everywhere to see how to do this.

Office 365 Pro Plus Security Update User Permissions - Sccm

I plan to deploy Office 365 Pro Plus using Sccm 2012. My configuration setup file has this line Updates Enabled="TRUE" UpdatePath="Share" .  My users are not local administrators of their workstations. If I update the office share with a patch, will my users have permissions to install the update? If not then how will my users get updated?

OneDrive for Business deployment

We are going to use Office 365 with Office 2010 on Windows 7.

I am trying to create a deployment for OneDrive for Business in Configuration Manager, but the only installationfiles I can find is Click-to-run versions that users have to run.. There is absolutely no point in pushing this out to user unless we want to send out a user-guide also...

Where can I find the deployment files to create a silent install? Do they even exist? Is this not for "businesses" after all?

Office 365 outgoing server DNS entries

$

Hi

My organisation doesn't use Office 365, but some people we deal with do. We're seeing thier email being bounced intermittently by both of our mail gateways and by our ISP's store-and-forward backup relay.

When the message fails, it's last hop before reaching us is from a server that appears to not have a DNS entry- one example is DB3PR01MB137.eurprd01.prod.exchangelabs.com. If I try to ping that by name it doesn't resolve, and when I did a routine DNSRBL lookup on it at https://toolbox.surftown.com/cgi-bin/rbl.cgi that fails to resolve it too- but I find this very strange.

I'm pretty certain having an unresolvable address as the sending address will cause all sorts of issues- using the RBL checker against my MX resolves both the forward and reverse DNS correctly.

Note that the failure only happens intermittently. Mail that succeeds seems to come from another range-

emea01-am1-obe.outbound.protection.outlook.com

but when it fails, the generating server is something like DB3PR01MB137.eurprd01.prod.exchangelabs.com, which has been denied relaying by our our ISP's server, having presumably been rejected by our gateway because DNS doesn't resolve. Any ideas?

I've previously posted this at http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/outlook_com/forum/oemail-osend/office-365-outgoing-server-dns-entries/e6141595-cb58-41eb-8bb6-cf98a66b4e36?msgId=81a29763-4e17-4d3a-b158-1be7dea2fa27 but it was suggested I post here- this forum seemed the best match.

Thanks

Chris
