Office 365 implementation using MS 2010

$

Good day Support Team

Currently we are in the process of implementing Office 365 The Essentials package but upon implementation the project could not continue as we still have MS Office 2010 and Office 365 needs MS Office 2016 at-least or higher version. I wanted to ask is there a patch that I can utilise so that it can be compatible with the Office 365. Understanding that only got advice now to move to the higher package which is business premium so later we will move to that package but wanted a interim solution to continue implementation of the project:

If there is such patch to update MS Office 2010 to be compatible with Office 365 please provide me with such?

Provide me with end of support date of MS Office 2010 and what are the imprecations:

Also provide me with Disadvantages of using this solution with regards to if there might be Office 365 updates, will the affect the patched MS Office?

Regards

Group policy template change log from Office 365 ProPlus 1808 to 1908 (SAC)?

Hi All,

I'm very soon deploying Office 365 ProPlus 1908 (SAC). We currently are using 1808. We already have group policies set when we deployed 1808 but I noticed some notifications/warnings when running 1908 for the first time that there are new privacy settings. I'd like to control these via group policy. Additionally I'd like to know what other new group policy settings there are, or changes in group policy settings, since 1808.

I know in the excel sheet "office2016grouppolicyandoctsettings.xlsx" there is a list of "What's new in Office 2016" but I'm sure it's inaccurate because there's only 19 settings listed and I know there are more than that. Also the new settings for connected services/privacy are not in that list.

I'd like to see a change log for the templates so that I know which group policy settings I should be looking at and which I can ignore because they are already set.

Does anyone know where I can find such a change log?

Thanks

Important Parts:

- Install from local source
- Update from local source

2 weeks ago I've downloaded the new Version 16.0.11328.20438 with the following xml:

<Configuration ID="da192995-4b70-4969-a82f-1fa98c9ba1a3"><Add OfficeClientEdition="32" Channel="Broad" SourcePath="\\<dfsroot>\Microsoft\Office\Office_365\de\update" AllowCdnFallback="FALSE" ForceUpgrade="TRUE"><Product ID="O365BusinessRetail"><Language ID="de-de" /><ExcludeApp ID="Groove" /><ExcludeApp ID="OneDrive" /><ExcludeApp ID="Outlook" /><ExcludeApp ID="Publisher" /><ExcludeApp ID="Lync" /></Product><Product ID="ProofingTools"><Language ID="en-us" /><Language ID="fr-fr" /></Product></Add><Updates Enabled="TRUE" Channel="Broad" UpdatePath="\\<dfsroot>\Software\Microsoft\Office\Office_365\de\update" /><RemoveMSI /></Configuration>

This worked fine and I can see the related update files on our network share at the right place. Within the configured download place were 2 new folders created automatically(..\Office\Data). Since the same happened within the download location for installation-files(see first xml-snippet), I assume this should be like that "by design". Today (14 days later and all the machines were used 5 days a week during this time and booted mutiple times) I've checked if the clients would have installed the update automatically as I would expect it. Not a single client was Updated. If I open a office application(for example word)and go to "File --> Account"(my installed version is in german so sry if the translation isn't correct at all) I can see that Updates are activated and should be installed automatically(but obviously this didn't happened..) If I click manually on "Update-Options" and select "Update now" the Update will be installed succesfully (from the local source). Because of that I assume my setup is correct and there is something else I'm missing or doing wrong.  Could anyone please elaborate what I'm doing wrong or is there something additional I habe to configure so this will work ?

Please note: the dfsroot-path and company-name within the xml-snippets were removed due to privacy. They are the same at every instance and I've checked them multiple times(well obviously they have to be correct, if not even the installation wouldn't work at all).

Do I use Cached Exchange Mode in Outlook in O365 Home – only a home PC

I have Win 10 Pro 64-bit and O365 Home 64-bit on my home PC, with three 2TB hard drives – one for OS and apps, one for Files and one for Backups.  It’s on a small home LAN network with the usual other devices, printer, etc.  Not a domain.  My internet connection is Verizon FIOS 400Mbps with low latency (typically 5ms to any nearby test server).

I am about to set up my Outlook in O365, but in the setup steps, it isshowing Cached Exchange Mode checked and greyed out so I can’t change it. Should I do anything?  FYI – I canceled out of the setup to get this question answered.

FYI – I had decided to let the Outlook setup connect first to my Outlook.com emails ([myname]@outlook.com) rather than fight for an installation first pointing only to my email accounts at  [myname]@verizon.net   and  [myname]@[spouse’sSOHOdomain].com.  After I get [myname]@outlook.com running on Outlook in O365, I will then add the [myname]@verizon.net   and  [myname]@[spouse’sSOHOdomain].com.

FYI more – on an old XP computer, I am connected to [myname]@verizon.net   and  [myname]@[spouse’sSOHOdomain].com ONLY as POP3 with “Leave a copy of messages on server” checked.  But I think the time has come to switch to IMAP when I get Oultook running in the O365.  Later later, I might try to move the old email folders in the XP machine over so I can access them in the new Outlook, but that can wait.

  1. Well, what about Cached Exchange Mode checked?
  2. Also, I will want the OST or PST files with all the emails to sit on my second hard drive (for Files) rather than the default position on the first hard drive (for apps and OS)
  3. And any more general comments on how to do this?

Many thanks for your detailed step-by-step suggestions with photos, arrows and a discount coupon for a Scotch.  Now, wash your hands.

I've got a two part question here...

1) When setting up a new Office 365 service, can the service be started before the AD structure is in place, or must there be a directory server prior to starting service?

2) Is email archiving available? Not just email records, but full message archiving.

Error Exporting Messages from Windows Live Mail to Outlook 2013

Hello,

I'm currently using the Windows Live Mail client and I wanted to export to Outlook 2013. I'm using windows 7 x64.

I used the "export mail => messages => exchange" in the menu, selected the folders and all is fine here. But when it starts exporting it get stuck on message # 677 of 1775. It keeps in the same progress does nothing and I can't cancel.

I tried exporting folder by folder but all of them get stuck too around 55%.

Does anyone have any ideas? Any tools like scanpst to try to fix any corrupted message that could be causing the problem?

Thank you!

Hi all,

I'm trying to build a solution to secure the related data when a user as installed Onedrive | Teams on a unmanaged W10 device. Tried several things, WIP without enrollment, but can't seem to find the right way. No we have a EMS+E5 trial license activated and maybe I can accomplish this with MCAS.

Has anyone else tried to set this up already, or can somebody put me in the right direction?

Thanks!

Hello Powershell guru's, hope someone can help me. I'm hoping one of you guys came across this type of script.
I googled, i checked documentation, checked any forums, and try any commands before posting this.
I have a script that pull the users mailbox and select only the access rights or who delegate access to a user and export this to csv. Works perfectly but i'm looking for a parameter that pulls also the section "reports to" or the user's manager.
I know with Get-aduser there is a parameter but it just don't seem to combine with O365 commands.
Any idea or any help would be appreciated.

Saving users from bad migration. Import .pst file to office 365

$

Hi

I'm trying to help a customer, saving all the mess after another commpany made a very bad office 365 migration.
A lot of things didnt went out as the users thought it will go.

But one of the worst is that they are missing many emails from their archive folder on the old system. Luckily i have found a backup of the archive.pst files from all users on the server.
But.
When i try to import the pst files from file->open->import and then import the .pst into the mailbox, it goes well at first sight. When i return to the same folder 10-15 minutes later, the folders are empty and there is no mails inside.

This is hardly my first experience with the office 365 and my guess would be that it some how "sync" the local outlook content with the "cloud" content.- But that the cloud content overrules the local content and thereby deleting it again.

So.. first of all - whats the right way to import a pst file into a mailbox in o356?

Secondly - am i right in my theory?! ;)

Thanks in advance

/Jesper

Office 365 install onpremis

Dear reader,
I'm a bit confused about o365 licensing. A user has license to install max 5 times office. I suppose that covers the devices the user might use off premise at home for example. But what do I have to install on my devices at work/school. Users at a school never sit a the same computer. So the 5 times will be reached fast.

best regards,

Ruud.
