Hi 

my question is, currently I am using MS office 2010 professional plus legal version. I wanted to upgrade it to office 365 pro plus. Hence, what is the procedure for it, whether I need to uninstall current office and reinstall office 365 if I do it how to key for it to activate? is there any option to upgrade directly from Microsoft.

"Word experience an error trying to open the file"

I installed Microsoft Office Professional 2010 about a month and a half ago and have not been having any problems until yesterday.  I received a word document as an attachment in my Outlook and I cannot open the file.  I keep getting the following error: "Word experienced an error trying to open the file. Try these suggestions - *check the file permissions for the document or drive, *make sure there is sufficient free memory or disk space, *open the file with the Text Recovery Converter" 

This same email was also sent to a coworker and she had no problem opening it - she is using word 2000. I also had another coworker send me a test word attachment so that it would come from a different email and I had the same problem with that attachment.

It was sent using Microsoft 2000 or 2003 and I have NOT had problems with her sending the older files when I switched to 2010. I can open other word files already saved on my computer from previous emails.


I also tried saving it on my computer and then opening word and when going to open the document right-click and open and repair and I receive the same error message.

Office 365, cannot log in

Hi.

I cannot log into the Office 365 apps on the computer. Logging in at portal.office.com Works fine so the account is working.

When I try to log in from eg. upper left corner of Excel and Word a dialog shown up where I have to enter my email address (or phone number or Skype Identity). I do so, hit enter, dialog disappears and nothng happens.

Re-deploying Office 365 ProPlus in environment for users to ensure they're up to date?

I have an environment with a couple hundred laptops that already have Office 365 ProPlus. However some of them don't auto-update over the past couple years and as a result, I am thinking best to just re-deploy (we have a third-party deployment tool to send .exe's) O365 ProPlus just to ensure that 1.) they're updated and 2.) they're fixed and go on self-updating. We don't have SCCM unfortunately, just PDQ deploy.  

That said, That said is there any issue with redeploying to users if they already have it? The reason would be to ensure they’re on the latest version in case it is corrupt or not auto updating and and replace any Apps that’s missing.

But what I don’t know is if my they have additional apps not typically installed with the default xml settings, if this would uninstall that. Or is that only is the exclude line is in the config that stuff gets removed?.

O365 ODT downloaded wrong version in January 2020

Hello,

this is the second time I get a failure (or, better, a wrong Office version) in the O365 update process through deployment tool, the first time in july 2019.

My Office 365 version was 1902 (build 11328.20480) in December, semi-annual channel. As we all know, every January and July Microsoft releases the semi-annual channel new O365 version: a couple of days ago, version1908 (build 11929.20562) has been released for the channel. Because of I did not want to upgrade to 1908 version, I added these entries in my .xml file used for updating:

As you can see in bold above, I explicited the 1902 version number published by Microsoft for January: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/officeupdates/update-history-office365-proplus-by-date

Unfortunately, the 1908 version was downloaded. This issue has presented last July too, when I wnted to maintain 1808, but 1902 was downloaded.

Any idea the reason it did not work?

Office 365 Pro Plus- Changing update channel from Semi-Annual to Monthly

Hi, former colleague deployed Office 365 Pro Plus to all Windows 10 1809 Enterprise clients (viaSCCM) without specifying update channel so they all ended up havingSemi-annual Channel. Security team might require all of them to be changed toMonthly Channel. I know there are two registry entries needed to be changed:

HKLM:\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Office\ClickToRun\Configuration\ CDNBaseUrl to http://officecdn.microsoft.com/pr/492350f6-3a01-4f97-b9c0-c7c6ddf67d60

HKLM:\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Office\ClickToRun\Configuration\ UpdateChannel to http://officecdn.microsoft.com/pr/492350f6-3a01-4f97-b9c0-c7c6ddf67d60

I am aware of the following scheduled task Office 365 related too:

Office Automatic Updates 2.0
Office ClickToRun Service Monitor
Office Feature Updates
Office Feature Updates Logon
OfficeBackgroundTaskHandlerLogon
OfficeBackgroundTaskHandlerRegistration
OfficeTelemetryAgentFallBack2016
OfficeTelemetryAgentLogOn2016

So I would like to know if the first one (in combination with some others) will modify update version (build number) along with update channel on client side (for instance in Word, Control Panel ...) to reflect changes made in registry? If answer is yes what would happen if any of Office 365 app is open at time when scheduled task runs? If answer is no is there any way of updating info on client side without forcing Office 365 client to check for updates (OfficeC2RClient.exe /update)?

I want this update channel change to be completely transparent to end user if doable.

All of a sudden I'm getting this error message when I try to open my Hotmail on my desktop:

Task xxxx@hotmail.com -  Sending' reported error (0x80040115) : 'We can't complete this because we can't contact the server right now. Please try again later.'

All of the other email addresses I have on the desktop open no problem (I'm a freelancer and have multiple emails for clients). But my personal hotmail, the main email address, won't open. Have tried a bunch of things I found online but nothing is working. 

Can anyone help?

How to add a custom Powerpoint template across corporate PC's so everyone can access it

Our company has created a custom Powerpoint template that it would like it's employees to use when giving presentations (all of whom have a Office 365 Business subscription). I have been given the task of getting it deployed onto their computers so that whenever they open the Powerpoint app and hit a new presentation, the template will be on the list of template options with the default ones.

Is there a way to do that other then each person creating a custom templates folder, adding the template manually, and using the 'Open -> Browse' option every time?

Any help would be appreciated,

Office 365 February Update Catalog Not Available on SCCM

Experts ,

Please advise on this scenario.

We have performed Successful Software Updates Sync on our SCCM Console, still we haven't received the latest update under Office 365 Client management. 

Please suggest if we need to perform any further checks from the backend or is there any manual method to enable this?

Hi,

I have an Office 365 Pro Plus SCCM Deployment that works on all but one Computer. This is the error and I don't know what it means.  Can someone please interpret?

I'm trying to follow the steps here but the download part keeps failing and I have no idea why.

SCCM O365 Updates stuck downloading at 0 % ...

Hi,

I've been running into this issue with several clients en mi environment ... O365 updates are published but they get stuck donwloading at 0%, but other clients dowload the update with no issues ...

I've checked some logs but I'm not able to determine why some clients are failing with the same update ...

Anybody else has been through this ?

Any help would be appreciated

Mac: Deployment set defaults (workgroup file path)

Hello!

I want to find out if its possible (and if so how) to set the "workgroup" filepath location programatically (ie. via system profiles, or system defaults variables).

In Word you can set a "workgroup" directory where this software and other software from the Office family (ie. powerpoint, or excel) can look for corporate created template files.

We want to create several of them and add them to our sharepoint site and sync them locally to the users machines. (So they always have a local copy of it available, but it syncs newer versions automatically or get updates to individual templates)

Manually you would set it in Word > Preferences > File locations > Workgroup path.
