GPO "Disable shared mail folder caching" in Outlook 2013 not working

Hello,

We do not wish to cache shared mailboxes on our local Outlook client. This is done by altering the default cache by unchecking the setting "Download shared folders" in your e-mail account->More Settings...->Advanced. This works fine doing this on each client.

When configuring this through GPO I should select: User Configuration->Policies->Administrative Templates->Microsoft Outlook 2013->Outlook Options->Delegates->"Disable shared mail folder caching".

Why does this not look like it has any effect on my clients then? The "Download shared folders" should be unchecked right?

Thanks for your time

We can't remove Windows accounts

We have installed Office 2013 Pro Plus via our E3 O365 subscription. It automatically connects the components (Word, Excel, ...) to the domain user account xxx@xxx.local in our case.

We want to get rid of that account and connect Word, etc to the O365 account of each user.

It turns out that we misspelled the name of a new user in Active Directory. We corrected the error in the name in AD, but the name still has the error in Word, and other Office programs. Where can we correct the name or how can we get rid of this account and change it in the O365 account?

We can setup a connection to the O365 account but everytime an old document (= created/opened earlier with a connection to the .local account) is opened it hooks up to the .local (domain account).

We can not sign out of the .local account, then we get "We can't remove Windows accounts"

A solution is really appreciated.!

Required MS office product

Sir,

We are planning to install Windows Server 2008 R2 edn on our server and set it up for remote desktop use in a thin client environment.  We need MS Word and MS Outlook programs for between 5-10 users.  Which is the best/latest MS Office product that would suit our computing environment and what would be the licencing cost?  We are not interested in Office 365.

Best wishes.

Office Upgrade Default Programs (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Outlook)

Hello,

after upgrading from Office 2003 to Office 2013, users get the dialog for setting a default program.

For example: If the user is staring excel first time, a dialog appears that not default program for spreedsheats is set and if excel schould be set as default program.

How we can achieve that this is done within the installation (in OCT) or silent through a command line.

I know that the default programs can be set in the control panel via GUI, but this not a acceptable way.

Connect new user to old installation

Hi everyone. We are using Office 365 Midsize Business in our company. Each employee has it's own PC with Office 2013 installed and linked to their subscription. From time to time, we have some people leaving and some new ones joining the company. For the old ones, we remove subscription from Office Online admin panel. Now, we want that new user to use the same computer with Office 2013 already installed. Do we have to uninstall Office 2013, then download it through Office Online and install it again, or there is a shorter way to connect a subscription with installed Office 2013?

Thanks

Default Office 2013 account?

In all Office 2013 applications I have 2 accounts, my "Windows account", which I cannot delete and my Live account which I have associated with all of my services such as SkyDrive, Facebook, etc.

Whenever I open an Office 2013 application, it defaults to the Windows account. Is there any way to have it default to my Live account instead? Otherwise I have to goto the backstage and click switch account every single time I use them.

Thanks!

MS-access autocorrection in an device-licence

$

I am a volunteer-assistant at a database-instance for entering genealogical data. This happens in MS Access 2013. Recently a system change is introduced and now the data are housed in an ICT company in the cloud (remote server). The MS Office software too is at this company on the server. Previously it was so that everyone could login his own name and thus, in fact, managed its own data, now there are 10 thin client devices installed and for all (more than 10 part-time) employees there are 10 login accounts, which have to be shared. So there is probably no more talk of user licenses but only device licenses, which are on the (virtual) servers in the cloud. Because this genealogical information uses often the same (combination of) names, concepts, etc., it is useful to use the option: Replace <Autocorrect / exchange text while typing>. This accelerates the entering and the chance of errors is significantly lower. This abbreviation data are stored in a file with the extension : .acl and is linked directly to the login code. The system change forces all users therefore to use the same abbreviation-list. This can lead to conflicts because the number of understandable, shortest and possible abbreviations is limited. By local differences (towns, villages) names and abbreviations desired can vary considerably. My question is: is it still possible in a device license area to have an own abbreviation/autocorrect list for every single employee? If this is not the right forum for this question, please refer to another forum.

Thanks in advance,

Office 365 Licensing

Office 365 licenses can be managed using Powershell and Graph API.

I would like to know what is being used by Office 365 portal in back end, Powershell or Graph API? (when we assign licenses to users in UI)

Office 365 to Exchange 2010 Hybrid Mail Box Migration

I'm working on setting up a pilot for Office 365. We have Exchange 2010 SP3, in a DAG configuration (two front end, and 2 mail box servers). I have setup the hybrid configuration. All firewall ports are open.

Problem 1: We can move mail boxes up to office 365 with out a problem. When we try to move them back we get

"Bill.Test@contoso.com

I know someone is going to say "Trun on IncludeExceptionDetailInFaults", please tell me how to do that. I'm not the an exchange expert, or an IIS expert.

Problem 2: We can email to account in Office 365. Office 365 can't email to on-site exchange. We do have Mimecast as a spam filter, and I've been digging in that to see if that is a problem. Just looking to see if anyone has an idea of thing to check for this.

Office 365 in education

Hi,

My wife is the assistant head for a primary school and she is wanting to move towards Office 365 so they can benefit from using Lync, SharePoint sites and personal profiles and collaborating with other schools.

I'm looking at possibly doing the work but I've never really used 365 before.  I want to know the best way to get started, what the best way would be to manage multiple companies/domains, can we federate 365 organisations?

Any success stories where schools have already done this would also be a huge advantage,

thanks

Apps for Office on an Office 365 tenant with federated identity

$

There seems to be precious little info around about how to configure an Apps for Office store on an Office 365 tenant. More around for an Apps for SharePoint store (like how to find, request, purchase, etc.) but not for Office.

You create the same App Store, but there is no obvious way of requesting and publishing any of the apps from the online Office Store. e.g., the Free dictionaries, which are a big omission from Office 2013 by default!

This is the sort of stuff I've found, but whilst it's a beginning, I'm still left feeling lost:

Supported distribution points for apps for Office

After an app for Office is created by a developer, the developer can decide how to publish it so that it is available to the users within your organization. In Office 2013, the following distribution points are supported for publishing apps for Office:

  • Office Store Hosted and regulated by Microsoft, the Office Store is where developers around the world can publish and sell their custom Office solutions. End users and IT professionals can download these custom Office solutions for personal or corporate use. Office Store handles the consumer download experience from discovery to purchase, upgrades, and updates.

  • SharePoint App Catalog   For task pane and content apps, IT departments can deploy private app catalogs to provide the same app acquisition experience that the Office Store provides. This new catalog and development platform enables IT departments to use a streamlined method to distribute apps for Office and SharePoint to managed users from a central location.

App Catalog is available to all SharePoint customers (including Office 365 and SharePoint on-premises). App Catalog enables publishing and administration of both internally created apps and apps that are available in the Office Store and licensed for corporate use. For more information, see Manage the App Catalog in SharePoint 2013.

  • Exchange catalog   This is a private catalog that is managed by an Exchange administrator for mail apps that are available to users of the Exchange Server on which it resides. It enables publication and administration of corporate mail apps, such as internally created apps and apps that are available in the Office Store and licensed for corporate use.

  • File-based app catalog   IT departments and developers can deploy task pane and content apps to a central file share, where the manifest files will be stored and managed. Users can then obtain apps by specifying this file share as a trusted catalog, or an IT administrator can configure this file share as a trusted catalog by using Group Policy.

What I'm after is actual guidance upon how to setup, manage and use a SharePoint App Catalog in Office 365 with users who do not (and should not need to) have Microsoft accounts but are using Federated identify back to our internal AD. So has anyone done this, and how did they do it?

DSN code 5.1.1 in Exchange Online delivery failed

I've seen many questions about this error and can't seem to get a suitable solution for my situation, I attempted to install office 365 in a hybrid mode and abandoned the attempt after having various issues. I removed all connections and configurations with the on premise server and I have two domains, one is my on premise one is only office 365 now. when I log onto my office 365 account and try to email my other on premise domain I get this error, the email address I'm mailing is not on Office 365 but office 365 online seems to think it is, I've tried all the clearing cache, same thing happens whether I use chrome or internet explorer, when I configure my office 365 in outlook 2013 I can send email to it, I can even email the account when sending from outlook lite using online 365 just not the un-lite version. I've deleted all mail from my office 365 account, deleted all contacts, reset the recent cache many times.

My DNS for office 365 account is setup according to Microsoft recommendation, my dns for on premise has not been changed to reflect anything being in office 365.

I can email my on premise accounts from anywhere except my office 365 online non-lite outlook web app. I can even email it form other office 365 accounts.

I removed personal info from the following

Can't install Office 2013 64 bit

$

We just purchased a new Dell workstation which came with Office Pro 2013. Of course the only thing we get now is a piece of paper with the product key and instructions to go to office.com to get the program. I tried this but there are no options to do anything. I go through the steps and it automatically downloads a setupx86.exe file which installs the 32 bit version. I don't want the 32 bit version and I have spent hours trying to figure out how to get the 64 bit version installed with no luck. With 2010 I was able to download the 64 bit version and install it. I realize this is all because of piracy but on the flip side Microsoft is going to loose existing customers because it's so hard to do a simple install. How can I do this!?

Thanks

Outlook E-Mail View -> Task toolbar -> Calendar show more days

Hi

In Outlook 2013 you can enable the Calendar View on the right side of the Mail View:

Outlook 2013

Here you can see the calendar and the (cut off) text (on top of People panel) "You have nothing else scheduled today". This calendar panel shows only appointments for today.

If I have an appointment tomorrow, the panel doesn't show it. In Outlook 2007 I could see all appointments in near future.

Is there a possibility to show more appointments from the future in this view, not only from today?

Thanks

Hello All,

I have a webdav application which is running on a Java platform and MS Office 2013 installed in my client machine. Whenever, I try to open up a MS Excel format document, I get an error "Sorry, we could not open <https://someurl.xlsx>". This does not happen with other Office formats lie .docx or pptx.

If I restart MS Office in safe Mode all works fine including MS Excel format. Could someone please guide me on what settings I should disable or change to make MS Excel formats open in normal mode?

Regards,

I am building an image for 8.1 with office 2013 and I rearmed office using opprearm.exe because i use KMS.  Now that i rearmed office word no long gets its online templates.
