Office 2013 local Click to Run deployment error

$

I have downloaded the x32 version of Office2013 to a local deployment share, making use of the Office Deployment tools. The download succeeded. Share is read access for everyone.

When launching the installer from the share, on a x64 Win7 client, the splash screen is displayed, followed by an error after a few seconds which reads  "Windows cannot find C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office 15\ClientX64\integratedoffice.exe"

(I need x32 office due to compatibility with our CRM system)

I reviewed the log file, and can confirm that the files do extract to the path listed in the error.

If I open explorer and browse to the path just after launching the installer, I can see that 'C:\Pogram Files\Microsoft Office 15\ClientX64\integratedoffice.exe' exists momentarily, then the entire "Microsoft Office 15" folder is deleted and the error appears.

I did try delete the reg keys as per the windows fix recommendation, this made no difference.

There are no errors in the OfficeSetup log  All move file commands succeed. The last line in the log file reads|:

  [4512] ShellExec: C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office 15\ClientX64\integratedoffice.exe CUSTOMIZE RERUNMODE config "configuration.xml" app root\office15\firstrun.exe admin=1

Word 2013 Missing Text in Menu Bars and Dialog Boxes

$

I'm using Word 2013 (32-bit) with Windows 8.1.  The menu bar at top that typically would show File, Home, Insert, Design, Page Layout, etc. only shows Design. Also, When I go to save a document, the dialog box does not shows "blank space" where text should normally be.

Any ideas what is causing this issue?

Office 2013 Deployment in a Multisite Environment

$

We want to upgrade our 200+ clients to Office 2013 but I have encountered 2 major issues.

The first is that we have multiple sites with slow network links (less than 512k) so I need to be able to install and update from the local file server. All our file servers have an install share mapped to I: that replicates from a central location every day which is where the install files are located.

Problem is I seem to have to specify the server name for the configuration XML file to work. I have tried using the %LOGONSERVER% environment variable but this hasn't worked. I could create an xml file for each sit but I'd rather avoid it as sometimes we move computers around and I don't want them trying to update from another site and flooding the WAN link.

The second is that as we have slow links and large inboxes I need to find a way to move the email from the users 2010 inbox into their 2013 inbox. When I update to 2013 it downloads them all again. I can export from 2010 then import into 2013 but this just adds it as an additional inbox.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Office 365 ProPlus & Federated Access

I was wondering if ProPlus ongoing verification can be accomplished using Federation if Shibboleth is used as the Identity Provider?  I have setup the Shibboleth IdP to also use ECP?

Also after having installed Offfice365 Pro Plus is it possible while using an app like Word to sign-in using federated access under a similar setup?

Thank you for your time.

OCT settings to pre-populate user name/initials and accept Outlook autodiscover settings?

$

In the interest of a better user experience and reduced support calls, I'd like new Office installations to be as hands-off as possible.  With the Customization Tool, I've gotten 99% of the way there.  There are just two items remaining:

  • When opening the Office components for the first time, the user is prompted for a name and initials.  I'm already putting those into system variables.  How can I use OCT to prepopulate those values and eliminate the dialog box?
  • We have autodiscover configured for our Exchange 2007 installation, and that works without issue.  On first opening Outlook, the user is prompted to "allow this website to configureemailaddress server settings?" and an option to not ask again.  How can I use OCT to eliminate this dialog by accepting the setting and not prompting again?

Word 2013 Simplify Places in File Open Menu

Hello all,

Working to help my aged parents (87 and 84 years old) working with Office 2013.They have an Office365 account (so they have a website and a Skydrive PRO place for their files)

They have new computers with Windows 8 / Office 2013. Since they cannot use their Office 365 account as a logon account for Window 8 so the have to have a Microsoft account too.  It is of course impossible to explain to them the difference between Skydrive (Microsoft Account) and Skydrive Pro (Office365 account).

I would like to get rid of all references to Skydrive (Microsoft account) in the file open and file save menus.

Save I can do as long as they don't go to save as. But Open I have no ide how to get rid of all the other place.

Any ideas?

Simplify "Places" in Office 2013 / Windows 8.1

$

I am trying to find out how to remove unwanted "Places" from Office 2013 apps on a Windows 8.1 computer.

1. Get rid of all the web templates in File New
2. Have only Computer (default file location) in File Open
3. Have only Computer (default file location) in File Save
3. Have only Computer (default file location) in File Save

I especially don't want Skydrive for the MS account used for Windows 8.1.
I would like to have SkyDrive Pro for Office365 (which works as a default location on the computer) , but once I have got rid of all the other stuff I can add this back.

All help much appreciated.

PowerPivot 2013 Data Importing Issue - Incomplete Data

$

Hello,

I'm experiencing a PowerPivot 2013 issue where PowerPivot does not seem to be reading all of my data, and as a result the sales data in my report is undervalued.

The data is flowed from the company system to a txt file. The txt file is linked into PowerPivot 2013. Upon refreshing the report using the “Refresh all” button in Excel, it is as if PowerPivot is simply not importing a significant chunk of the data. When I go into the PowerPivot tab and click the “manage data” button I’m able to see all of the individual lines of data. The data starts falling off near the bottom. For example, the product identifier exists in a particular row but there is no sales information that corresponds to the product identifier. But, when I open that very same text file in a different Excel doc and find the row with that unique product identifier, I am able to see the corresponding sales data. So, I’m able to verify that the data correctly flowed into the txt file from the company system, but for whatever reason PowerPivot stops reading the data below a certain line.

I have several different versions of the report for different categories, brands, etc, and this issue only affects the larger data sets. The largest txt file being imported is 500MB, so size should not be an issue. The files have up to 500K rows, and I’m noticing that the data is incomplete usually after row 300K. The row is not the same from report to report. But from the breakage point onwards, all the following rows are also incomplete.

Any insight would be greatly appreciated! Please let me know if I can clarify any points.

Thank you

Replication in Access 2013

Hi all,

I am wondering does anyone know anyone out there who has developed a replication solution for Access 2013. Microsoft appears to have discontinued it in 2013. I work in a very rural area and the remote connection options are not good. Replication was the perfect solution for me and my colleagues sharing a database on field work. Any chance Microsoft could bring it back in 2013??

Cheers,

Microsoft Office 2013 Windows 8 Nightmare

I installed Office 2013 365 on windows 8 and powerpoint worked but word just kept crashing. I uninstalled and reinstalled and restarted the computer and the same crash was happening. I uninstalled completely including using the registry hot fix and reinstalled and now when I try to run the Office installer it says that I need a later version of windows, at least windows 7. Again, this is on windows 8.

I am at a loss as to what to do at this stage and would appreciate any help.

Outlook 2013 will not start up

Outlook 2013 Will not start. Get the following message:

"Cannot start Microsoft Outlook.  Cannot open the Outlook window.  The set of folders cannot be opened.  The information store could not be opened."

We have Microsoft Office 365 Home Premium edition.  We are using an exchange server for email.  We have confirmed that the email has been set up correctly and we do know that Microsoft was able to fix it once.  After they left the remote session, we shut down Outlook and restarted it.  We received the same error message as written above.

Microsoft did tell us it was an Outlook software issue.

Powerpoint Addon keeps crashing

Can someone help me with this. Trying to add an addon. Using 2013. I open pp and added the developer section. Added in the code below then saved it as a macro enabled power point. I then saved it again as a powerpoint addon .

Its supposed to create a button that when you click it executes a macro that pulls out the notes sections from powerpoint slides and saves in a location you pick. When I try to add the addon though it fails immediately and powerpoint asks do I want to disable it in order for it to open. When I debug it though there are no errors so perhaps I am just adding it incorrectly. Below is the addon.

Sub Auto_Open()
    Dim oToolbar As CommandBar
    Dim oButton As CommandBarButton
    Dim MyToolbar As String

    ' Give the toolbar a name
    MyToolbar = "Moo Tools"

    On Error Resume Next
    ' so that it doesn't stop on the next line if the toolbar's already there

    ' Create the toolbar; PowerPoint will error if it already exists
    Set oToolbar = CommandBars.Add(Name:=MyToolbar, _
        Position:=msoBarFloating, Temporary:=True)
    If Err.Number <> 0 Then
          ' The toolbar's already there, so we have nothing to do
          Exit Sub
    End If

    On Error GoTo ErrorHandler

    ' Now add a button to the new toolbar
    Set oButton = oToolbar.Controls.Add(Type:=msoControlButton)

    ' And set some of the button's properties

    With oButton

         .DescriptionText = "Export slide notes"
          'Tooltip text when mouse if placed over button

         .Caption = "Export Notes"
         'Text if Text in Icon is chosen

         .OnAction = "Button1"
          'Runs the Sub Button1() code when clicked

         .Style = msoButtonIcon
          ' Button displays as icon, not text or both

         .FaceId = 52
          ' chooses icon #52 from the available Office icons

    End With

    ' Repeat the above for as many more buttons as you need to add
    ' Be sure to change the .OnAction property at least for each new button

    ' You can set the toolbar position and visibility here if you like
    ' By default, it'll be visible when created. Position will be ignored in PPT 2007 and later
    oToolbar.Top = 150
    oToolbar.Left = 150
    oToolbar.Visible = True

NormalExit:
    Exit Sub   ' so it doesn't go on to run the errorhandler code

ErrorHandler:
     'Just in case there is an error
     MsgBox Err.Number & vbCrLf & Err.Description
     Resume NormalExit:
End Sub

Sub Button1()
' This code will run when you click Button 1 added above
' Add a similar subroutine for each additional button you create on the toolbar
    ' This is just some silly example code.
    ' You'd put your real working code here to do whatever
    ' it is that you want to do
    Call ExportNotesText
End Sub

Sub ExportNotesText()

    strFile = InputBox("Enter the name of the file ending in .txt", "Will save here: C:\Users\Carito\Documents\PPT Notes\")
    strFileName = strFileLoc & strFile

    ' did user cancel?
    If strFileName = "" Then
        Exit Sub
    End If

    ' is the path valid?  crude but effective test:  try to create the file.

    ' Get the notes text
    Set oSlides = ActivePresentation.Slides
    For Each oSl In oSlides
        For Each oSh In oSl.NotesPage.Shapes

Windows 8 with Office 2013, I am unable to save any Word 2013 document as a pdf.  Using export also gives the same error.

Office 365 - Importing PST Files

$

Hi there, going round in circles over this issue.

Firstly, I know of two ways to import our .PST files to our newly setup office 365 accounts (assume this uses exchange 2013??).  The first is using the tool PST Capture - This gives me the same (unresolved) issue posted in other topics - where it cannot see any mailboxes on the server to import too.

The second is manually in powershell.  I have zero experience prior to spending all day yesterday researching online how to make the transfer .

 I have managed to get as far as connecting to our exchange server.  However I am unable to run the command I believe needed to do the import (new-mailboximportrequest).  I have added myself to the role of "Mailbox Import Export" but despite this I still cannot see it in the list of available commands.

Can anybody help?
