Can anyone answer? When using a shared desktop or server based applications "Xenapp"  I don't want the addin for some users therefore I cant publish the Addin GLobablly..Office 2013 is global as this is the only support solution! I don't want to create a silo for this addin.  Similar issue with IE plugins eg Java

All the Answers seem to support both Global Office and Global Addin plus connection group which is great if not a shared desktop/xenapp

Is Global Office and user published Addin and a connection group a supported solution??


Data entry with validation via online system (desktop not mobile) for small business.

Hi All,

Sorry if this is posted in the wrong forum.  I am looking for some advice on what setup is might be the best for a small business option in regards to replacing the following.

I work with a planning consultancy that employs 12-15 casual staff over a 2-4 week period to conduct population and land use surveys on a house to house, business to business basis.  The surveys are about 30-40 questions and completed on a paper form (I am not looking to implement a mobile solution at the moment).  The surveyors complete ~400-600 surveys each and then enter them into a Survey Monkey series of forms (and this is what I want to replace).  

Once all entered the data is downloaded to excel (requiring some manually formatting) and loaded up to a well established table structure in an Access database, where I have a series or QA/QC queries and other queries for summary and analysis.  And so begins the hard work for me  with a large amount of QC needed, often with me trying to guess what surveyors were thinking and often finding duplicates where the data entry has been done in Survey Monkey and the connection has dropped out leaving a duplicate record or incomplete record.

Can anyone suggest an online data entry setup that provides the temporary staff some validation assistance in order to reduce the QA/QC load on me (and hopefully a better quality database).

Onenote printing more pages as one document

Hey

I have the newest version of Onenote whilst my teacher has an older version. She tried to show the class a way to use Onenote that I am partly able to but the problem is that when she showed us how to print she simply marked the different pages by pressing the ctrl-button and then export all the pages as one document as a pdf.

Is there any way that I can export many pages as one document like she did in the newest version?

Help with Tax Exemption/reduction/withholding tax form for Office 365 migration

I am currently managing a European-wide Office 365 migration, we intend to purchase all our licenses via a re-seller. They have advised that we have to submit a tax exemption/reduction/withholding tax form for each European office.

Can someone provide more details on what form this is exactly? And where to obtain from? I am based in the UK so someone with guidance that is UK-specific would be appreciated. If someone has knowledge from European perspective that would be great.

I will be contact the Tax Office in the UK but not sure I can explain the situation fully for them to understand. Not gonna stop me trying though...

Any help/guidance would be greatly appreciated.

Word 2016 Stripped Features - Fail - So I need to Go back to 2013 - But CANT.

Word 2016 is a total fail. Microsoft removed the grammar editing features, along with 56 other features, that made Word great. i am happy with the other features, but no longer wish to use Word 2016.

I still have Word 2013 installed on my computer, but i cannot open files with it unless i manually select it and then open files from within the program. I cannot, no matter how hard i try, switch the default windows settings to Word 2013 instead of Word 2016. When changed the 'opens with' setting there is no option for Word 2013 - even though the program is still installed. I selected the  'more apps', then 'look for another app on this PC'.

I navigated to C:\program files\Microsoft Office\office15 and then selected the WINWORD.EXE file. I have also attempted to use WORDICON.EXE as the program, neither works. Now the 'opens with' field says for the DOC file (.doc) that it is opening with "Microsoft Office 2013 Component". However, when I double click the file to open it, it says "This app cant run on your PC, check with publisher".

It is terrible. Does anyone know how to fix this

Deployment on RDS Farm - Activation frequency

When Office 365 ProPlus is deployed on an 2012R2 RDS farm, is there any way for the shared activation to be shared uniformly across the farm, so that users are not prompted to login to O365 again each time they end up on a different server in the farm.  If we have a 10 server farm, we don't want every user to get the activate login dialog box 10 times.   Ideally they should only have to activate once on any server on the farm, and this token is shared across the farm.  We have roaming profiles, but that has no effect on transferring the activation or login credentials from one server to another in the same farm.

In addition, if a user changes their O365 password, will they be prompted to activate again with a login dialog box on all 10 servers when their license token expires?

Office 365 ProPlus - Stop Updates to 2016 in O365 Portal

My educational institution is currently using Office 365 ProPlus.  Currently, students using Windows install Office 2013 through the Office 365 Portal.  Can we use Current Branch for Business settings in the portal?  All I see now are Standard Release and First Release.  We need to delay the release of Office 2016 until August 2016 due to incompatibility with simulation software and textbooks.

Hi,

Running an Exchange 2013 server and the clients are all Outlook 2013.

There are 6 six people sharing one account. Not ideal but it will have to do for now, it's what the customer wants.

Occasionally when user attempts to forward a message from and outside account it automatically makes the local account (the one that is trying to forward) in the To: field and the drop down account for From: shows the original senders account.Obviously if we try to send it, it fails. if we use the drop down menu and correct the To: account to the local account it sends no problem.

Is there anyway to turn this 'feature' off.

Also, when forwarding it often says that you are not forwarding the latest version of this email, click here to view it. At that time no other clients are looking at that email.

When we click on that we now have an email that can be forwarded that shows up right.

Any Ideas?


Customizing Offcie 2013

I am used to Office 2007 where the Office components (Word, PPT etc)  have different backgrounds to break up the screen for ease of use. Office 2013  has an all-white screen where everything seems to merge into one white mass. I  want to:

1. Differentiate parts of the working screens for ease of use, a la Office  2007, especially the document area surround (all white again in 2013, black in 2007)

2. Reduce the size of the ribbon which is much larger than 2007 and  larger than text in other apps in Windows 10 (which I am struggling with). I can't seem to resuce it without reducing my Office workig area (Word, PPT).

Office Telemetry Log is enabled and we’re not able to turn it off

Hi everyone,

We’ve installed Office 365 ClickToRun on 9 RDS servers and on all of them the Office Telemetry Log is enabled.

Disabling this using Group Policies doesn’t have any effect. Also setting registry keys doesn’t turn this off.
Since it’s a ClickToRun installation we’re not able to turn this off in the installation (to my knowledge).

The Telemetry Log causes a lot of I/O activity which impacts the performance of the servers (with around 15-20 people per server).

Opened a ticket in O365, but they refer me to paid support.

I purchased a used surface pro 3. It is wonderful, but I recently did the windows 10 upgrade and lost my office suite. I do not have the product key as I did not get the original packaging. Is there any way to get it back w/o having to re-purchase? If not is there any way to revert my Surface Pro 3 to windows 8.1, and would this resolve the issue?

Also this is the only program I have noticed missing so far, is there anything else I should be aware of losing?

Managing Office 365 settings via GPO

Hi

I am trying to manage Office 365 Business Premium x86 security settings via GPO. The clients are receiving all GPO updates except Office 365 still won't update security settings. I have the Office 2013 ADMX x86 version installed from http://www.microsoft.com/en-au/download/details.aspx?id=35554 . I am running a Windows Server 2012 R2 domain controller. I have a Windows Server 2012 R2 Remote Desktop Server running with Office 2013 Standard installed and the settings apply to this flawlessly. 

Does anyone have any ideas on how to update the security settings under Office 365 Business Premium.

I need to be able to adjust the settings in the below location for all office applications.

File > Options> Trust Center> Trust Center Settings>

Only our two Windows 10 machines cannot activate against our KMS server both receive error. 0xC004F074. I just can't find a solution searching the internet.

Office not saving with file names right

Hello,   Office 2013 on Windows 7.

below is from a user who we support and I can't seem to make this go away.  What I do notice is that all Office files are associated with the XML converter.  When I change Excel files to use Excel as the default program this issue goes away. Same with the other Office programs.  But a few days later it reverts back to the XML converter.  Any ideas why?

When I open files (whether excel, ppt, or word) they still opening up with a bunch of 0’s.  (X0000000001, 2, 3, 4 and so on) It also seems they are opening up in older versions.  We keep having to resave it and change the extension’s to word doc or excel workbook etc. and it opens back up with the 0’s and 97-2003.  Then when we resave it again, the doc won’t reopen and it says “the converter failed to save the file”.  In doing a google search, it appears this is due to it being an older version which keeps being reverted back to older versions when we open them.  It happened with doc I updated and Greg and I couldn’t open it after.  Then I had Kourtney update another doc for me and when I tried to open it I got the message for that file as well and can’t open it.

Office 2013 Crashing After Printing to HP Laser Printers

I have a customer with an HP Elite computer, Windows 8, and Office 2013 (perpetual license, NOT Office 365).  The first page of a print job to an HP laser printer comes out fine.  However, it will not print another page.  Word or Excel hangs, and then asks to "Restart, or Close".  After the first page, if I go to Task Manager, I see "Windows Host Process (Rundll32) Not Responding".  Also when I close Windows 8, I get the message hpmsn140.dll or hpmsn09.dll "Not Responding".

This problem does not occur with other applications.

This problem does not occur with other non-HP LaserJet printers.

This problem occurs with both USB and network printers.

The only way to clear the problem is rebooting the computer.

I have tried the Windows 8 driver, HP's PCL 6 driver from their website, and HP Universal Print Driver from their website.  All have the same issue.

I have tried logging in as Administrator, as well as, the Standard User.  Both logins have the problem.

Any help would be appreciated.

How to use C2R update wo exposing source files?

Hi!

O2K13 C2R. Using for setup ODT and everything is ok, starting with download and ending deploying. Unattended way on hundreds of devices. No problem. But with update ... not so good. Using C2R Client update option ... much faster than setup, good to have. But, there is a "but". In our environment I can't expose setup source files to the world. During initial setup I used login credentials for accessing network share where setup files is placed. And, as I wrote, no problem at all. But, seems to, officec2rclient.exe handling things differently (btw, I could be wrong, I hope, this is why I'm here!). Keeping in mind – I can't expose setup source files. So, update (as far I find out) must be done with interactive user present and user must have at least read permissions to share. I couldn't user dynamic admin user I could use with setup wo interactive user present with permissions to share (where setup files present), I couldn't use system account at all as ... no "user" present. I can't run update that way on hundreds of devices, can I! Please advise! I certainly hope I missed something. But keep in mind, I can't expose setup source files to the "world". Is there a way to use update (which is much faster as I noted comparing to full setup) and not exposing setup source files? (Well, I haven't chance to try does this "public" read-only option for source files work, bit probably it does.)

Luckily I can still use ODT setup over older Office version to update, but – as stated – this is much slower than update option.

Visio is activated and runs once open.

also have office Pro Plus 2013 on system.

started problem after I had to reinstall both office programs.

I have already tried repair and uninstall /install under visio .

Hi, we have a script that uninstalls Office 2010 with Office scrub and next installs Office 2013. Everything works perfect except user settings aren't copied to the new Office version. Keep user settinsg is enabled in Office scrub and If I check I can see all settings are kept in registry. They just aren't upgraded to Office 2013. Maybe it's because Office installation runs as administrator (not user's permissions)? Does somebody have an idea on how to force office install to upgrade all existing settings for all users on a computer?

Office 2010 User Settings NOT Migrated After Uninstall-Upgrade to 2013

Greetings,

We are in the final stages of preparing for an enterprise rollout of Office 2013, upgrading our user base from Office 2010. When we deployed Office 2010, we used the Office scrubber tool to remove Office 2003 and install Office 2010. Employing this same technique, which is fully documented by Microsoft as the recommended approach, the user settings from Office 2010 do not migrate to Office 2013. For example, the default save paths. If you set this to say, "C:\Temp", in Office 2010, that path will be changed after upgrading to 2013. There are other settings impacted as well and hoping that someone has seen this or knows what might be going on. The method we've used during pilot is an in-place upgrade from 2010 to 2013 and that will retain settings but we also see cases where the upgrade isn't clean and components of Office 2010 can be left behind. It is critical to a successful deployment that the uninstall-upgrade approach works flawlessly.
