Office 2010 to 2013 (Excel crashes)

Hi,

I have several clients who use the same Excel document. It crashes regularly for them and the Telemetry Logs aren't providing much information as to what may be the cause. The event IDs (16, 12, etc.) do not come up when I search for them. There are no explanations in the log and the one time there was, "The application crashed, possibly because of the file". That was it. These particular files have a lot of analytical data and some of the workbooks are about 300 MB. However, the issue still occurs even with smaller files. Is there a Microsoft tool I can use to actually scan the file for any issues in it? Below is from the event logs.

Gmail IMAP not syncing the Inbox

Hi,

Since some days ago, my Outlook 2013 is not syncing my Inbox from GMail, just appears on the folders list named "Inbox [only this computer]" and none of the messages that I've received on my Inbox has been synchronized. I already tried to remove the profile and creating a new a lot of times, however I didn't get success. Is this a bug from the version 2013? Is there a way I can reset Outlook to factory defaults?

Thanks.

I currently have an E3 version of O365 installed (32bit) on my x64 Win 7 Pro laptop.

When i try to install Visio Std 2013 or Project 2013 from the ISO, they both fail.

Am I using the correct iso's, or is there another version of Visio / Project that is specifically for Office 365 Pro Plus?

Connection issues on corporate network. Fiddler resolves issues!

Hi,  we have been testing O365 for a few months now and I have never been able to successfully sync the Office 365 apps (OneDrive, OneNote, and license checks in Word etc.) on my Surface when connected to our corporate network.  If I connect to the guest wifi network the syncs work again.

So I installed Fiddler to see if I could find out what endpoints the suite was trying to connect to, and to my surprise all my syncs were working again, until I closed Fiddler.

I know Fiddler acts as a middle man in the form of a proxy but I don't understand why things work when it is running, or where the issue lies.  Our Infrastructure team have added what we believe to be the full list of Microsoft addresses to the firewall and proxy exclusions but this doesn't help me.

I have recently upgraded to Windows 10 and have the same issue as I did on Windows 8.1.

Any help would be gratefully received.

On Office 2013 ProPlus C2R - How to prevent Office 2016 from installing automatically through updates

$

Hello, we currently run Office 2013 PP C2R in our environment. Office 2016 is coming on Sept. 22nd and we do not want to move to this right away - but we have automatic updates configured for our client installations. I have read that with Office 2016 there are methods to delay this from happening as stated in TechNet article mt455210 (sorry you'll have to search for it, my account isn't verified for some reason yet).

I would like to use a group policy to postpone O2016 until CBB1 or CBB2 - but according to that TechNet article, these options are available in Office 2016 admin template packs? If I implement those admx templates, will that work when we are currently on O2013? It doesn't really explain that.

Also, if anyone else is using a different/better method to prevent O2016 from installing automatically through C2R, I'm all ears.

Thanks

      <ExcludeApp ID="OneNote" />
      <ExcludeApp ID="Publisher" />

This start to download some files but not all the required stuff.

Office 2013 Needing to Activate After It Has Already Been Activated.

We have recently begun an upgrade from Office 2007 to 2013 Pro Plus on our corporate Windows 7 PC’s. We are using the volume license version with a known valid MAK.  We are pretty much doing a default installation using an unattended install, but they have also just been running the setup.exe from the install location once they started seeing this problem.  In every case, there are no installation issues and each installation of Office 2013 has SUCCESSFULLY activated. The issue happens days or weeks later that the user is prompted to activate. It will not activate with user credentials.

We have seen scenarios where just logging in with an account with local admin rights is enough to activate it as well as instances where it will not, even when re-entering the valid key. The latter requires our techs run Office repair just to be able to uninstall Office and reinstall. But in either of these scenarios, the user may again eventually be prompted to activate – maybe a few days or a week or so later.  So far most of the PC's that have exhibited this problem once and had it fixed in any way, have had it reoccur. However, some PC's only required reactivation once and other PC's upgraded have not been affected at all - at least not yet anyway.

This has been a recurring problem on about a dozen or so PC’s out of 40 or so Office 2013 upgrades and the list of affected PC’s is slowly growing.  There are no outright error messages in the event viewer, just informational. So if there is something we need to look for to troubleshoot, any advice would be helpful.

The PC's are all HP with the OEM Windows 7 installed.  Some of the PC's are several year old All-in-Ones, while all of the others are recently deployed HP Mini towers purchased within the last year.

As much as we want to resolve this issue with the PC's already affected, we want see if there is something that needs to be checked on the PC's that have not had Office 2013 Pro Plus installed yet.  Thanks in advance.

Office Pro Plus Auto activate

Good Afternoon:

Recently, we switched our licensing model and went from Office VLM to Office 365 Pro Plus.  I'm having some challenges activating Office 365 Pro Plus on my terminal server farm.  I can manually activate it, but it's my understanding that it should auto-activate if we are federated with Microsoft, which we are.  If I sign in with my Active Directory credentials (same credentials I'm logged into the terminal server with) it will activate, but I need to make this happen seamlessly for my users.

I am running Office 356 Pro Plus installed to the terminal server with the following XML:

<Configuration>

<Add SourcePath="" OfficeClientEdition="32" >

<Product ID="O365ProPlusRetail">

<Language ID="en-us" />

</Product>

</Add>

<Display Level="None" AcceptEULA="TRUE" />

<Property Name="SharedComputerLicensing" Value="1" />

<Property Name="AUTOACTIVATE" Value="1" />

</Configuration>

When I open word, I am prompted to sign in.  If I enter credentials, it will activate and I can use the software.  My goal is to make this authentication happen automatically for my users.

Any advice?

Office 2013 GPO Deployment - Check for existing?

$

I'm configuring a GPO to install Office 2013 on my user's machines.  Some of them already have Office 2013 installed on them from being new or when they had to be reimaged.  My custom.msp (created using OCT) is configured with the default state to remove existing office installations before installing Office 2013. My question is, will the Office 2013 setup recognize an existing 2013 installation and halt (silently) or will it just see an Office installation and uninstall whatever the existing Office is and (re)install Office 2013?

Preferably, I'd like to just set the GPO to run at the top level of the domain and apply to all the PCs in the organization but I don't want it spending 10 extra minutes on the login/logoff screen uninstalling an existing Office 2013 installation just to reinstall the same thing and have the user go through all the wizards again.

Office 2013 GPO Deployment Script

Looking for a couple scripts out there that will only run once. I've seen the registry key method which would work fine, unfortunately I don't know scripting so I can't figure out how to tailor the script to my needs. Listed are what I have done and what I need.  If one of you scripting gurus can help me out, I'd be forever grateful.

GPO 1 Office x32
Network share: \\DFSNameSpace\...\Office x64\setup.exe
GPO runs based on WMI query returning x32 as OS architecture.

Script needed to check x32 default installation path and install if product is missing.

GPO2 Office x64
Network share: \\DFSNameSpace\...\Office x64\setup.exe
GPO runs based on WMI query returning x64 as OS architecture.
Script needed to check x64 default installation path and install if product is missing.

Office 2013 WebApps and AD RMS

$

Hi all,

At the moment I am trying to wade through the mirk to understand what is the correct answer to this simple question:-

"Will Office Web Apps render AD RMS protected documents?" - this is the on-prem' versions of OWA and AD RMS...

Thats it, but the PoC deployment seems to confirm that it doesnt, but the official MS Office stance is that it does but will always display in READ mode with no other options. Yet when we try to open any RMS document there is a popup prompt indicating this to be RMS enabled and to open it in Word. We do understand that it is better in Word, as the security is better in as much as you cannot take screen grabs of this, but you can in the browser, but there are instances when Browser is the only option.

If anyone can shed any light, and if MS moderators read this it would be great top get official feedback too.

Thanks

Phil

Hello,

I'm making the configuration.xml file for an unattended office 365 deployment. After installation, when I run one of the product, for example WORD, I still have 2 screens :

- A choice with : use recommended settings or not

- A presentation of office 2013

Do you know if I can silent/avoid these 2 screens and preset to use the recommended settings in my configuration.xml file?

Thank you for your help.
