Hi! We are looking to view and edit documents on our own file system with Office Web Apps Server. We are using a document management system (DMS) which is not SharePoint.
From the below article, the Web Apps Server seems to provide view and edit functions for documents on SharePoint but only view function for documents on shared folders or websites. Am I correct?

If it is the case, is that we should implement an application that supports Web Application Open Platform Interface Protocol (WOPI) to stand between the Web Apps Server and our DMS? Are there any APIs provided for us to implement this protocol easily?
