we are just about to rollout Office 365 Pro Plus to our users.
We had a Microsoft PFE in house who suggested that we distribute the initial Office 365 ProPlus Installation through SCCM but
the Updates through the Internet directly (CDN). However, we do not want that each single user downloads the update packages
from the Internet, since this would need additional Internet bandwidth/ cost.
the 2 other alternatives, are to distribute the O365 PP updates through the Local Installation Store (LIS) or through an SCCM DP.
however, here we were told that the
«bits differential compression» only works from the CDN, but not when you use LIS or SCCM.
Using the latter two always would update the whole Office 365 PP package and not only the differentials, which would increase the load on the internal network.
Are the statements above true? Is it really (still) like this? are there improvements planed e.g. for SCCM?
How are you doing this? Are there other alternatives that work, Peer-to-Peer client caching?
Thanks,
Franck
