Hi All
I am aware that Microsoft do not support Office 2013 C2R alongside a 2013 MSI product such as Visio / Project.
And yes I am aware of the KB article which says its not supported. (https://support.microsoft.com/en-gb/kb/2753630)
However
In our organisation we were long using MS Office AND Visio/Project MSI products long before the C2R concept came along, and now we are in a difficult position that after rolling out Office 2013 C2R, users can no longer launch their existing installed visio/project
2013 (MSI).
Let me add: these products DID work together just fine, but Visio/Project (MSI) will no longer work if the user has Skype for Business running. If this is closed down then visio/project will open and run just fine. so the conflict appears to be specifically with Skype for Business client. (note: we are using Office 2013 C2R which includes "skype for business, but are aware that behind the scenes its really lync 2013").
So my questions are:
1) Has anyone else in the real world suffered at the hands of Microsofts inability to allow C2R and MSI to work together?
2) Does anyone know of a magic solution to allow these to run together (without closing SfB!). I have ONE PC i know of which works , so i know it is possible. I just dont know why it works, and have been unable to get it working for all my other users.
We have been given a proposal from MS: stop using MSI version of visio / project and move to C2R versions. This is nice but it means effectively throwing away all our existing licenses which we already own and buying them again on the monthly subscription model. not impressed with that idea.
thanks to all,
