Office C2R - info on updating using officec2rclient.exe?

I'm trying to use officec2rclient.exe to update our Office 2013 C2R installations using a local server install source (not CDN).

For most of our pilot testing, updating via this method is working well and resolves issues with the previous 'setup.exe /configure' style update method. However on some machines the update silently fails almost instantaneously with no UI shown and returns a generic error code (-1). The log file is almost next to useless but perhaps someone can help decifer or might know some further information on officec2rclient.exe such as some documentation or a complete list of command line switches that can be used?
