I’ve been using Office 2010 and SharePoint Workspace for some time.When I open an Office document from Workspace, it will open read-only by default, but I get a yellow “Check out” button at the top if I want to edit it.This is the same behavior when opening the document from SharePoint (in IE).I recently updated to Office 2013 and this no longer works when opening from Workspace – if I open a doc from Workspace, it opens in read-only mode, but there is no “Check Out” option at the top.I’ve also looked under File, Info, Manage Version and all it says is “There are no previous versions.” If I open the same document/spreadsheet from SharePoint in IE, I get the “Check Out” option as expected.
I know SharePoint Workspace is part of Office 2010 but not Office 2013; is this just an incompatibility with 2013?
