Trouble activating Office 2013 KMS Key

I may be missing something simple here. I'm attempting to install our Office 2013 KMS key on our current KMS server. I've obtained our key from the Volume Licensing Service Center and have verified it is valid. The key is 5x5 format. Our KMS server is running on Windows 2012 Core and is currently serving licenses for Windows 7 and Office 2010 installs.


Per instructions I installed the "Microsoft Office 2013 Volume License Pack".  When I enter the key via slmgr.vbs it says it installs the key, but when I check for the key it says the key is not found:

If I run the "Office Client KMS activation diagnostic tool" on a client the report identifies our KMS host but give an error 0xC004F074, "...unable to reach a KMS host server for activation".  We have over 10 Office 2013 installs on the network so we have exceeded the minimum 5 activation requests.

Per http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2870357#Error0xC004F074 , if I run:
cscript slmgr.vbs /dlv 2E28138A-847F-42BC-9752-61B03FFF33CD ,
It shows 'License Status' as unlicensed, of course...



Do I need to obtain a different style of key...?  Is there another patch for 2012 Core KMS? What am I missing?
